1.  Pringle, who is the hostess of the dinner party, is shown entering the stage wearing a “lovely evening gown”. She carries with her a bouquet of flowers sent by Harper who has declined the invitation due to one of his friend’s illness. Though she admires Harper for sending the flowers but she disapproves of young men refusing dinner invitations at the eleventh hour.
